Method
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, garlic, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a small saucepan, whisk together the chili sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and lightly browned.
- Remove the meatballs from the oven and brush them generously with the sweet chili sauce.
- Return the meatballs to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and caramelized.
- Serve the sweet chili meatballs warm, garnished with chopped scallions or sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
For a more intense flavor, you can increase the amount of red pepper flakes in the sauce. Additionally, the meatballs can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months. When ready to serve, simply reheat the meatballs in the oven or microwave and brush with the sweet chili sauce.
