Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 lb broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • cutting board
  • sharp knife
  • mixing bowl
  • spoon or spatula

Method

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender-crisp.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve immediately over steamed rice.

Notes

For maximum tenderness, be sure to slice the beef against the grain. Adjust the cooking time for the broccoli as needed to achieve the desired texture. You can also experiment with different types of beef, such as flank steak or sirloin, to find your preferred cut.
