  • 1/2 cup Honey

  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 cups Cooked Rice white, brown, or jasmine
  • 1 Avocado, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Scallions, chopped
  • Sesame Seeds optional

Equipment

  • small saucepan
  • large skillet
  • Spoon
  • Bowls
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Prepare the Hot Honey: In a small saucepan, combine honey, chili flakes, rice vinegar and garlic powder. Heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the honey is warmed through and the chili flakes have infused their flavor (about 5-7 minutes). Do not boil. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened (about 5 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Brown the Beef: Add ground beef to the skillet and break it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, draining off any excess grease.
  4. Season the Beef: Stir in smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  5. Assemble the Bowls: Divide cooked rice between bowls. Top with seasoned ground beef, avocado slices, and chopped scallions.
  6. Drizzle with Hot Honey: Generously drizzle hot honey over each bowl.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with sesame seeds (if using) and add a drizzle of sriracha for extra heat (if desired). Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra richness, consider adding a fried egg on top. A dash of soy sauce can also be added for a deeper umami flavor. Store leftover components separately to prevent the rice from becoming soggy. The hot honey can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If you don't like spicy food, omit the cayenne pepper or reduce the amount of chili flakes.
