Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef 80/20 blend
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped optional
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds optional

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • small bowl
  • Spoon
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cups
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • Oven

Method

  1. Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Assemble the Rollups: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Brush each triangle with the garlic butter mixture.
  5. Add the Filling: Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheese over each triangle, then top with a spoonful of cooked ground beef.
  6. Roll 'Em Up: Starting at the wide end of the triangle, roll up the dough towards the point.
  7. Brush and Bake: Place the rollups on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the remaining garlic butter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional).
  8. Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and garnish with fresh parsley (optional). Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, gently sauté the minced garlic in the melted butter for 1-2 minutes before adding the other seasonings to enhance the garlic flavor. Brush the inside of the crescent roll dough with garlic butter before adding the filling, then brush the outside of the rollups before baking for a crispy, golden-brown crust. Place the cheese directly on the dough before adding the beef to help seal the dough and prevent it from becoming soggy. Monitor closely while baking to prevent burning.
