Crock Pot French Dip Sandwiches

Ingredients
  

  • 3-4 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet au jus seasoning mix
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 8-10 hoagie or French rolls, split lengthwise
  • Sliced provolone cheese optional

Method
 

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in the Crock Pot.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the beef broth, au jus seasoning mix, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the seasoned broth over the beef in the Crock Pot.
  4. Cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the beef is fall-apart tender.
  5. Remove the beef from the Crock Pot and shred it using two forks.
  6. Strain the cooking liquid to create the au jus dipping sauce.
  7. Place the shredded beef on the bottom half of the hoagie rolls.
  8. Top with sliced provolone cheese, if desired.
  9. Serve the sandwiches with the warm au jus dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

For best results, use a high-quality beef chuck roast. The slow cooking process in the Crock Pot will make the beef incredibly tender and flavorful. Experiment with different spice blends or toppings to find your perfect combination. Leftover shredded beef can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the au jus sauce.
